My husband ends his career on September 30, 2022. He will officially retire with 41 years of United States Army duty. I AM ONE PROUD WIFE having loved every step of supporting his Army career. He is a Soldiers Soldier and is watching our military deteriorate to a numbers military not taking care of their military members as they once did back in the late 80’s early 90’s. We married August 7, 1988 and I became a proud military wife. He has carried on his career as directed in his 1SG role as well as being asked multiple times to fill in as a Command Sergent Major. He has cherished the friends made many years ago he still talks to today. His life will change forever once his boots are over the line hanging proudly for all to see. There will be lots of happy times discussed and LOTS of tears shead. I pray someone as caring as he has been will take his place.
The one good thing is he works for the Department of Emergency Services at Ft. Campbell, KY everyday for the last 18 years so he still works side by side with uniformed soldiers everyday. That will help in his transition to no longer putting on that special uniform!
